Guinness Real Ale and Whisky Appreciation

Guinness, Real Ale and Whisky Appreciation Society

If you're the kind of person who likes sitting down at the end of the day with a nice pint of ale, a measure of whisky or perhaps a reliable Guinness, then the GRAW (Guinness, Real Ale and Whisky) society is the place for you!

We will be holding regular meetings at Butler, where we provide ales and whiskies for people to taste and compare. We will collect £2-3 at the start of a meeting just to help with expenses, but don't worry we'll be relaxed about it rather than draconian! This is a great chance to meet new people and relax after a long week of work. We also organise socials where we go to a few pubs and, well, socialise!

This year will also see some tasting sessions from local breweries, and if there's enough interest, a couple of brewery visits as well. A definite new feature of GRAW will be the participation in local pub quizzes in Durham's finest, including the New Inn and John Duck.

Whether you're an established ale/whisky fan, or are looking to try something a little different, the GRAW society is a friendly and laid back place to be.

Feel free to join our facebook group and keep up to date with latest meetings or pub outings:
